An Official Member of the Kansas Explorers Club

Today Rural Kansas "Rocks" Foundation President Harpo received in the mail his 2010 Kansas Explorers Club membership card, with his official Explorer Number - No. 5378. As usual, he was at a loss for words. Such a softy.

ABOUT THE FOUNDATION PRESIDENT - HARPO, SEPTARIAN OF THE HILLS

For countless eons Harpo, a rare high-ridged Septarian Concretion, lay blissfully amongst family and friends in the Blue Hill Uplands of southern Osborne County, Kansas. Discovered in 1971 by the Waldon Rothenberger family, Harpo quietly resigned to accompanying his human companions back to their home in Osborne, Kansas, where he continues to gather dust and to contemplate the often strange existence of being part of the human world. Over the years Harpo has become a popular silent spokesman for the varied geology of Kansas. "Proud to be a Rural Kansan" and "Dare to Do Dirt" are mottoes that he lives by on a daily basis.

A. Qualifications for joining the Foundation:
1. Rock must be thirteen million years old or older to join.
2. Rock must be a member in good standing in the Kansas Explorers Club.

B. To remain a member in good standing in the Foundation each rock must:
1. Attend annually at least one tourist organization meeting.
2. Attend annually one Kansas tourist attraction.
3. Attend annually the Kansas Sampler Festival.

To receive your membership card as an active member of the Rural Kansas “Rocks” Foundation you must send to the President the following: (1) your rock name, (2) your Explorer number, (3) your mailing address, and (4) your email address.

Remember Our Motto: “Rural Kansas Rocks!”

[The Rural Kansas "Rocks" Foundation is not officially sanctioned, supported, or affilliated in any way with the Kansas Sampler Foundation and its various organizations such as the Kansas Explorers Club. The RKRF exists to support the positive activities of the KSF and the KEC in a fun and creative manner for the good of all of Rural Kansas.]
